Growing Long Hair Tips

Nutrition and SupplementsAvoid crash diets. They stress the body and the effects appear in all the body’s systems. Remember that hair is nothing more than a-keratin protein (90% with the remaining 10% being water.) A low protein diet can cause the hair to thin and will certainly slow its growth.
If you are in a phase of actively trying to grow out your hair, you may want to supplement your protein intake with liver. Some nutritional experts also recommend brewer’s yeast, wheat germ, and granulated lecithin to help your body process the protein. Visit your local health food store and ask to speak to a counselor who will help you make good choices about diet and the use of supplements. When you are trying to grow hair, vitamins help.
In fact, thanks to the poor quality of the modern diet, everyone can benefit from a daily multi-vitamin, mineral supplement. The B and E vitamins are good for your hair as are zinc, sulfur, and magnesium. Also make sure your multi-vitamin includes biotin. To get more B vitamins from your diet, eat beans, peas, carrots, cauliflower, soybeans, bran, nuts, and eggs. Avocados, nuts, seeds, and olive oil contain the E vitamins.
Avoid foods that are greasy and fatty. They will disrupt your digestive system and potentially make your scalp and hair more oily. Minimize your intake of salt as it will raise your blood pressure and affect blood circulation in your scalp. (Male pattern baldness has been linked to high blood pressure.) Avoid pre-processed foods that are full of chemical additives and fast foods. A well-balanced diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables that is also high in protein is your best ally in your quest to grow long, beautiful hair.BrushingThe physical stresses on your hair are also an important consideration. Only use brushes with natural boar bristles and choose wide-toothed combs. Both are good at distributing the natural oils in your skin from the scalp down to the ends of your hair.
Throughout the day use your comb to prevent tangles in your hair. If tangles do occur, work at them in small sections starting at the end of the hair and working your way up. Never back comb or tease your hair. Always work in downward, even strokes. If a tiny knot simply will not work out, it is best to cut it out.
Before you shampoo, comb or brush your hair to remove loose hairs and to straighten out tangles. If your hair has a tendency to be dry, the old tried and true daily brushing with one hundred strokes will help as it is a technique to distribute oils from your scalp down the length of your hair.Split EndsWith long hair, damage travels up from the ends. Trim your hair often. If you have reached the desired length and are in a maintenance stage, take off half an inch a month. If you are still growing your hair out, remove half an inch every three or four months.
In between those major trims, sit in a bright light and examine your hair for split ends. (When a split end develops, the hair literally unravels and will look frizzy.) Use just the tips of sharp scissors to remove the damaged end of the individual hair. Hair with this kind of damage breaks easily and much more length will be lost in that fashion than in simply monitoring and snipping your split ends.Stresses to the HairThe natural tossing and turning of sleep will create damaging friction against your hair if you sleep with it down. Use a satin pillow case and put your hair in a loose braid or in a soft sleep cap.
Heated appliances like blow dryers, hot rollers, curling irons, flat irons, and crimpers are strictly forbidden. No steaming hot showers and no vigorous rubbing of your hair with a towel. All of these things place major stress and friction on your hair. The heated items will dry out your hair and make it more brittle and in some instance place physical stress on the hair shafts by altering their shape. The same is true of overly hot water while shampooing and of the friction caused by vigorous rubbing with a towel.
Consideration should also be given as to the wisdom of using hair fasteners. Never use rubber bands because they tear at the hair when removed and damage the outer cuticle layer which makes the hair more susceptible to tangling. Anything with rough or sharp edges and hinges in which the hair can become caught is a bad idea as are items with Velcro and springs. Soft scrunchies and chopstick-like “hair sticks” are much better choices.
Avoid tight braids and pony tails. When you pull your hair to achieve these styles you are placing stress at the roots that are already bearing the weight of your long hair. Anything you do that causes hair to fall out or to be pulled out should be stopped immediately and not repeated. Check out more expert tips to grow long hair in the next part of this article.

Beauty Make Up Tip

Most teenage girls begin wearing light make-up around the ages of 12-13 as they become more aware of their appearance. As a teen, your make-up should look natural and enhance your facial features. Don't overdo it, this will only make you look silly. With a few simple, inexpensive products, you can play up your finest features -- and look great!
Natural Make Up Keep your make-up light for school. You don't need to use make-up on every facial feature you have! Mix and match to find out what looks best on you.
Teen Make UpFor parties, you may want to add a little more make-up to enhance your features. Make sure you blend it in well with your fingers or a cosmetics brush and check it in bright light when you're finished.
Foundation
Foundation for teens is not necessary. While it can clog your pores, it will also look overdone.
Concealed
Skip the foundation and use a concealer on your blemishes only. Lightly dust on some loose powder over your entire face to even out your skin tone, control oil, and set the concealer.
Freckle
Don't try to hide your freckle. You may not appreciate them, but they are part of you. Exposure to sunlight makes freckles darker so avoiding the sun and using a sunscreen will keep them in check. As you get older, they can fade -- and then they won't be an issue.

EYE SHADOW

Eye shadow does not have to match your eyes, however earth tones (tan, brown, gray) are very complimentary to blue, brown and hazel eyes.
When you begin using mascara, brown works best for both blondes and brunettes. Black is probably too harsh, especially in the daytime. If you think brown isn't dark enough, try brownish-black.
Waterproof mascara may be necessary for sports and outdoor activities in warm weather. It stays on longer and doesn't run -- but it's harder to take off. It's best to keep make-up to a minimum and you won't have to worry about undesired smearing.

It is one of the most rapidly absorbed oils making it an excellent choice as facial oil.
White teaWe all know the benefits of green tea but in China it’s all about the white tea. The anti-aging secret! White Tea comes from the silver tip of the green tea plant. It’s also known as the emperor’s tea. The plant houses all the antioxidants in the tip. It acts as an environmental shield that the free radicals can’t penetrate through. They bounce off free radicals and fend off anti-aging. Recently, a few skin care lines have realized the benefits of white tea and actually incorporated it in their products. A nice example would be Origins.EasyWeightLossTea

Alpha hydroxy acid (AHA)Alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) skin care products are easy to make at home because they are made of fruit and other ingredients we may have in the frig or kitchen cupboards.

Fruit acidFruit acids are great for the skin because they loosen the glue between dead skin cells, and the cells fall away, leaving the face very smooth and soft. You'll be amazed at how easy it is to produce fabulous results for your skin that you would imagine only the most expensive and sophisticated products you could buy could do.
Not only that, but AHAs are found in fruit and vegetables you may already have in your kitchen or growing in your garden, so you don?t need to worry about any synthetic chemicals that may cause harm. Try any of the following fruit acids, but always take care to avoid your eyes. Avoid using these homemade peels if your skin is sunburned, and before going into the sun.
Malic acid: Apples, vinegar, applesauce, cider Lactic acid: Buttermilk, yogurt, powdered skim milk, sour cream, blackberries, tomatoes Tartaric Acid: Grapes, grape juice, wine, cream of tartar Citric Acid: Citrus fruits such as lemons, limes, grapefruit, and orange Glycolic acid: Sugar cane
Glycolic acid cleanserThat sugar cane produces glycolic acid, one of the natural alpha hydroxy acids that exfoliates the skin.
Face cleanserAll you need is about one half a teaspoon of liquid per face cleansing. You can freshly squeeze the juice of one lemon, for example, and refrigerate the leftovers for the rest of the week. Just dab some of the juice onto your fingers and pat on your face. Leave on for 10 minutes or so before rinsing. If you are in a rush, just cut a grape or strawberry in half-whatever you happen to have on hand-and rub it over your skin; let the juice set for a few minutes, and then rinse.
SUGAR SCRUB
50 percent white cane sugar (note that organic sucanat, while the best choice for food, doesn't work as well for this recipe) 50 percent vegetable glycerin to moisten the sugar (I used avocado oil since I was out of vegetable glycerin --as is my health food store-- and it proved to be a successful substitute) small amounts of aloe vera gel, vitamin C crystals, or anything healing that dissolves in water 1 or two drops of essential oil if desired (Larry recommends combining orange and lavender) enough ground hibiscus powder for pink color (if desired)
Combine the ingredients in a bowl. Scoop some of the scrub onto your hand and massage gently onto your skin for a minute (the scrub will actually tighten onto your skin like a masque). Leave on for 3 to 4 minutes before rinsing.
VinegarThe use of vinegar with a variety of plants or essential oils for cosmetic purposes can be traced back to the Romans and was fashionable during the nineteenth century as vinegar de toilette.
Vinegar has a tonic action that promotes blood circulation in the small capillaries that irrigate the skin. It is also antiseptic, preventing the proliferation of bacteria, viruses, or yeast that trigger infection. It can dissolve excessive fatty deposits at the surface of the skin and reduce scaly or peeling conditions. Lastly, vinegar regulates the pH of the skin. Vinegar is most effective when used with lavender, rosemary, rose, or elder flower. It is essential to use top-quality white wine or cider vinegar. Dry any fresh plant material for two days before using.
Apple cider vinegarMeasure and mix only dried plant material and then add the vinegar. Apple ciders composed entirely of liquids can be used at once. Those containing plant material must be left to macerate. Prepare the latter in a screw top jar and leave on a window sill as instructed, strain, and then bottle. To use, add 1 teaspoon of apple cider to a cup of bottled or spring water to wash your face or pour 3-4 tablespoons into a bath.
Exfoliation faceAside from natural herbal applications, try a dry skin face exfoliation. All you need is a small, dry, natural bristle brush. Avoiding areas of broken skin or irritated areas simply brush lightly in circular motions all over your face. This is perfect to do in the morning if you experience any puffiness, it will reduce it and your face will feel smooth and rejuvenated.
Remove blackheadsOnce a week, rub your skin with baking soda while in the shower, for a smooth, silky feeling. You can also do this on your face to remove black heads.
Smelly armpitVinegar can work wonders for smelly feet and armpits. Mix water and vinegar 50/50, and use in place of deodorant: it will keep the unpleasant sweat smell away, without any irritation. As for your feet, if you suffer with athlete's foot, a week of vinegar foot bath will help a lot, sometimes completely getting rid of your condition.
Care dry skinA great treatment for dry skin is avocados: mash it, smooth it onto your face, and rinse off after 20 minutes.
Brown Sugar ScrubThe Ingredients
2 Tbsp. ground oats 2 tsp. brown sugar 2 Tbsp. aloe vera 1 tsp. lemon juice
The Instructions
Mix all ingredients in a clean bowl until you have a smooth paste. Gently massage onto damp skin, and rinse off with warm water. You can triple the recipe for a fantastic smoothing body treatment.
Oatmeal facial maskGround Oats: use rolled oats and a clean coffee grinder or blender to grind the flakes to a fine powder.
Oatmeal is highly absorptive, hypoallergenic, and helps to soften skin. Oats have the best amino acid balance of all the cereal grains (amino acids work as water-binding agents in skin care products). Oats have also been clinically shown to help heal dry, itchy skin. Oat grains and straw appear in shampoos, dusting powders, moisturizers, and cleansing bars and more.
Aloe Vera - The juice of this plant helps reduce pain, gel from plant helps prevent infection and speeds healing of burns, drink helps reduce size of kidney stones.
Facial mask The Ingredients
½ really ripe mashed banana - moisturizing 2 Tbsp. ground oats - soothing milk or cream, add as necessary - softening pinch nutmeg - antiseptic 2 Tbsp. whole wheat flour - antioxidant
The Instructions
Whip ingredients together, adding cream or oat flour as necessary to get a smooth, paste-like consistency. Spread on clean face and leave for 5-10 minutes, then rinse thoroughly and pat dry..Bananas are eaten fresh and used in salads, desserts, breads, and candy. Bananas are a good source of ascorbic acid (Vit. C), Vitamin B 6 , and potassium.
Homemade Facial Mask(normal skin) The Ingredients1 medium peach oatmeal
The Instructions
Cook peach until its soft, mash with a fork, add oatmeal until its a thick consistency. Apply to skin. Let sit for 10 minutes, rinse well with cool water.Keep it in referigerator, since it does not contain preservatives, shelf life is one week approximately.

Exfoliation face
Peaches, plums and nectarines contain large amounts of alpha-hydroxy acids, or AHAs. AHAs are a buzzword in the world of exfoliants. Like most 'discoveries' AHAs, in one form or another, have actually been used for centuries. The gentle exfoliation of fruit peels speeds up cell renewal, leading to healthier skin tone. The AHAs in these fruits help soften wrinkles, sun spots, age spots, blemishes and can even unclog pores. Source: Eat California Fruit
THE FRESH ROSE FACE MASK
Prepare a rose facemask by grinding a handful of petals into a paste. Apply on clean skin and leave the application on for 15 to 25 minutes. Then wash with plain water (no soap). Your complexion will be smooth and glowing.
